SUPER-8, HOME COMPUTERS AND MODEMS

Youth was spent with Super-8 film cameras, Nikon still photography, the Palm PDA Personal Digital Assistant. The first home computers of the 80's; Sinclair, Atari, Amiga, Apple ][, IBM PC.

VIDEO GOES DIGITAL

During film studies at Tisch School of the Arts I met the Macintosh Quadra which could encode composite video and edit in Premiere 1.0 using Quicktime 1.0. The film/TV department were using U-MATIC tape decks at the time.

VIDEO EDITING AND STREAMING MEDIA

New players disrupt the market and enable broadcast-grade video production on consumer hardware. First Content Delivery Networks, CDN, enables distribution of live and on-demand video.

EVERYTHING IN THE NET

All cables disappear and are replaced by IP-networks. Production, Storage, Distribution - all IP, all cloud, all now and here and global. Amazon launches Media Services enabling complete cloud-based video production. Broadcast production runs on off-the shelf hardware.
